Student Chapters

IDSA Student Chapters prepare young talent for professional practice by providing an enriching community for academic and career growth while studying design. Chapters provide immeasurable value and positive impact on one’s future career through these member benefits:

  • Events. Chapters produce and host student programming, such as panel discussions, workshops, social gatherings, and community service.
  • Professional Development. Chapters assist the transition to the professional workforce by offering portfolio reviews, mock interviews, and job fairs.
  • Connections. Chapters create meaningful spaces for students to establish long-lasting relationships and share knowledge with professional designers.
  • Visibility. Chapters recognize design achievement by offering students the opportunity to participate in IDSA’s Student Merit Awards (SMA) competition.

Student Chapters, established in undergraduate and graduate industrial design programs at colleges and universities, are student-led and supported by IDSA headquarters. IDSA’s network currently includes over 70 Student Chapters across North America.
