Stefan Pannenbecker

is VP of Design at Nokia where he leads design teams in Finland, the UK and China creating a compelling portfolio of communication products for a vast range of users, contexts and experiences.

Before joining Nokia, Stefan worked for Philips, the Dutch electronics giant, for Teague and co-founded Substance, a branding and design consultancy. As a designer he has been as hands on as it’s possible to be - squeezing the last penny out of a product that was impossibly cheap to start with. At other times Stefan has had his head in the clouds - directing multidisciplinary research projects in collaboration with Domus Academy and Xerox Parc (Europe).

Stefan was born in Germany and has worked and lived in Asia, the US and Europe. He earned his Industrial Design degree at Art Center College of Design (Europe).
