IDSA Circular Design Advisory Council envisions a future in which circular design propels the circular economy, delivering sustainable growth and addressing climate change. By setting a new standard for industrial design and making circular design principles relatable, practical, and actionable, the IDSA Circular Design Advisory Council empowers the design community to lead the significant shift toward designing without waste.
With over 60 years of product, packaging, and design innovation across consumer, commercial, and industrial sectors, the IDSA and the Circular Design Advisory Council possesses the scale and expertise to drive meaningful transformation.
Recognizing that approximately 80% of a product’s environmental impact is determined during the design stage, the IDSA Circular Design Advisory Council views every material, production method, and logistics decision as a strategic opportunity to build a circular system that maximizes value and minimizes waste.
By leading with regenerative solutions, the Circular Design Advisory Council unlocks new efficiencies, creates market differentiation, and meets the growing demand for sustainable innovation. This is how companies gain a competitive edge, drive cost savings, and enhance brand trust—making a tangible impact on the planet.
The mission is clear: to set the standard for Circular Design and pioneer climate-positive solutions that advance the circular economy as a guiding force for the industrial design profession.
The Circular Design Advisory Council expands understanding of circular design and its role in modern design systems, driving sustainability strategies and solutions within the industry. The council is responsible for developing resources that enhance practical circular design knowledge and application and facilitating its integration into design processes.
