Paul leads the Industrial Design teams and their efforts for North America for Crown Equipment. His teams are responsible for integrating research, human factors and design into thoughtful and comprehensive solutions and life-improving experiences. He believes that innovation, passion, and creative problem solving are the keys to identifying and fulfilling user needs and desires – to provide the ideal experience. Even the ones in their future they can’t yet imagine.
Prior to joining Crown, Paul spent 18 years at Diebold, a US $3 billion company, and the world’s second largest manufacturer of ATMs. During that time, the company developed a large international presence (93 countries) and grew revenue by a factor of 5. His last 8 years were as Director of Strategic Design. In that role, he led all of the company’s product design, graphic design, user research, and UI design-related activities. During that time he was also awarded over 70 design and utility patents.
Paul currently has memberships with the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), The Design Management Institute (DMI), and the Sports Car Club of America. He has served on the Board of Directors for IDSA, and actively serves in board advisory roles for IDSA, SCCA, and has previously for the Cleveland Institute of Art.
Design and the creative process aren’t just a profession for Paul. In his free time he is also passionate about improving, creating and constructing, whether it’s in his shop or the kitchen. He is also a serious gear head, with a lifelong passion for cars and motorcycles. He actively has several car and motorcycle projects in progress, and campaigns an F Modified formula car in the SCCA Solo program, with over 10 National Tour and ProSolo victories.
