Jessica Pastor

ALSO Jessica Pastor an Industrial Designer with 20 years of international experience spanning aviation, automotive, lighting, and mobility, with a specialization in Color, Materials & Finishes (CMF). Over the past eight years, Jessica has led CMF strategy and execution for innovative companies including Nio, Aero, Lightship and currently ALSO where Jessica directs the CMF vision in the micromobility space. Jessica’s work focuses on pushing the boundaries of materials, finishes, and color while prioritizing lightweight, circularity and durability – principles she believes are essential to shaping the future of design. Jessica’s approach is rooted in human-centered design, shaped by her time at IDEO, and grounded in prototyping as a tool for learning, testing, and storytelling. Jessica thrives on translating brand values into tactile, emotional, and meaningful experiences that connect people with products in a deeper way. Originally from Spain, with a Master’s in Education and a degree in Industrial Design, Jessica brings cultural depth, teaching experience, and a collaborative mindset to my work. Now based in San Francisco, Jessica recharges outdoors – mountaineering and trail running – and channels her creativity through photography, ceramics, and glassblowing.

Why hands-on exploration

Jessica Pastor’s career is a testament to the power of curiosity and unconventional choices. Trained as an industrial designer, she deliberately began her journey in prototyping to understand how things are built from the inside out. That hands-on foundation led her to specialize in CMF (Color, Material, Finish) design, a discipline that bridges the rigor of industrial design with creative vision and sustainable material innovation.

Her work spans a wide spectrum — from shaping airplane interiors and developing innovative well-being products, to designing concept cars, lighting design and leading the CMF strategy for the first solar and electric RV on the market. Jessica will share how stepping off the traditional path gave her unique tools to merge craft, technology, and sustainability, and why nonlinear journeys can unlock richer, more future-oriented design outcomes.
