Tropp earned his bachelor’s degree in industrial design from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Since August 2013, he’s managed IDSA’s art direction and execution of conference visuals, web publications and physical goods by collaborating with vendors and volunteers. Tropp also manages the production of designBytes on IDSA’s new website, as well as the designBytes biweekly e-publication. Being a part of IDSA headquarters also has allowed him to reconnect with the industrial design field and professionals.
In the past decade, Tropp’s brand development, identity, print and web design clients came from the apparel, education, technology and automotive fields. He also worked for a product-based promotional marketing agency with notable clients such as the Washington Redskins, Nationals and Castles; DC United; the Philadelphia Eagles; the Baltimore Ravens; and Kraft Foods.
Tropp is a member of the DC Ad Club, a chapter of the American Advertising Federation.
While studying at Virginia Tech, Tropp completed an industrial design internship with Hamilton Beach Proctor Silex. He was the first student to design shirts for Virginia Tech’s Orange and Maroon Effect’s 2008 season.
His hobbies include cooking, reading and watching movies. Among his more adventurous interests are skydiving and zip lining. Tropp’s travels have taken him to Europe, Africa, Puerto Rico and the California coast. He also visited Hawaii with his wife on their honeymoon.
