Dr. Gwendolyn Lockman

Senior Exhibition Developer, History Colorado Center Dr. Gwendolyn Lockman is an historian of place, parks, pollution, and politics in the 19th and 20th century American West. She strives to make history accessible to the general public, students, and academics through a commitment to storytelling, teaching, and rigorous research. At the History Colorado Center, under the Colorado Department of Higher Education, Gwen is a Senior Exhibition Developer and Historian, leading a team of developers working on a broad portfolio of projects to bring state and national history to life for the education and enjoyment of the people of the Centennial State. But before that, she was a legal assistant in pro baseball, a U.S. Senate intern, a photographer’s assistant, an English as a Second Language teacher in Hungary, a work-study employed student in a phone room, a saxophonist, a gym membership sales associate, a landscaper and dog walker, a babysitter, and a contestant on Jeopardy!. She’s also the youngest of six and has been an aunt since she was five. When she grows up she wants to be a decent person and an eccentric neighbor known for throwing great parties.
