Bill Burnett is a graduate of Stanford University’s product design program, and now is its executive director and a consulting assistant professor in mechanical engineering.
One of the earliest interdepartmental majors, the product design program combines curriculum from the mechanical engineering and art departments to produce human-centered, values-driven designers. . Burnett’s teaching focuses on human creativity, entrepreneurship and technology innovation.
Burnett has designed products ranging from award-winning Apple PowerBooks to original Star Wars action toys. He holds patents including those for the first “slate” computer.
