Audrey Barnes is a designer, educator, entrepreneur, researcher, maker and iterative ideator based in central Virginia. Since 2006, she has been developing inventive, meaningful, responsible products and strategies at the intersection of business, culture and the environment. She works with clients ranging from nonprofits and startups to small businesses and multi-national corporations. Currently Barnes serves as an assistant professor of industrial design at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. Barnes holds a bachelor’s in industrial design from NC State University and a master’s in industrial design from Rhode Island School of Design. Her graduate work focused on using design to empower diverse socio-economic groups through growing food.
