Ayana Patterson, IDSA
Leader, IDSA's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council (DEIC) | 2020-2022
Ayana is a global luxury CMF + form specialist and design leader in the home and hospitality industries, where she has built, grown and refined hundreds of product collections for Georg Jensen, Ralph Lauren, Bobby Flay and Food Network housewares brands, resulting in millions of dollars of revenue.
Her approach is to merge her aesthetic acuity, design strategy and empathy, to emotionally connect brands with consumers by making each product feel like an experience. She has lead the ideation, CMF, form and engineering for numerous categories including tableware, decorative accessories, crystal stemware, mixology boxes, kitchenwares, gadgets, textiles, small furniture and lighting
Having traversed the globe for trend research and manufacturing she has been able to become proficient at international business relations and material development and manufacturing for materials like leather, crystal, metals, ceramics, woods and textiles.
She graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Industrial Design and a minor in Fashion Design. Currently, she is serving on the Leadership team for IDSA’s first Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council (DEIC). She also regularly mentors students from Syracuse University, Pratt and Parsons.
In her spare time, you can find her perfecting her bakes, sewing or trying to finally finish that screenplay she started to write!
