Communications Manager

You are equal parts public relations guru, creative story-teller and marketing maestro. In this role, you will be the driving force behind the development and delivery of exceptional communications and marketing strategies that support IDSA’s mission and elicit engagement with our community of design professionals across the country. Reporting to IDSA’s Executive Director, the Communications Manager is keenly adept in rolling out comprehensive content packages which combine strong written elements with eye-catching visuals across multiple platforms and media formats (print and digital). 

The position plays a key role in our success by helping to increase exposure and national recognition of our organization and our key programming such as conferences, events, award competitions and much more. The ideal candidate is experienced, creative, detail oriented, well organized and a highly adaptable rock star who can hit the ground running with a fast-paced team and shifting priorities. You will work closely with IDSA’s graphic, conferences and membership teams in a collaborative setting, yet you must also be comfortable with independently taking projects across the finish line.

Community Manager

We are looking for a qualified Community Manager to join our team and work directly with our growing membership base of design professionals and students. If bringing people together and helping others succeed is second nature to you, we would like to meet you. The ideal candidate has exceptional oral and written communication skills, is able to develop engaging relationships, and can initiate/see through projects to completion. Most importantly, you are self-motivated and passionate about people.

IDSA has communities (we call them chapters) of members in cities across the United States. Your main responsibility will be supporting and cultivating the leadership teams in each of these chapters so that they may best serve those in their local areas. A majority of the interactions between you and our community members will be over the phone, video calls, email or face-to-face during conferences and events. In this role, the Community Manager will thrive in being the go-to resource for our chapter leadership teams and be a pillar for enabling exceptional member-community experiences. 

The Community Manager will work directly with IDSA’s Manager of Membership and other teams within the organization to create and continually refine the tools and resources needed to best support our membership teams. The core scope of this work would include onboarding processes for new leaders and ongoing training / mentorship for existing leaders. Additionally, you will maintain a keen eye in overseeing the financial activities of each chapter; ensuring that all are held to a high level of accountability and best practice.

Events Coordinator

IDSA is revolutionizing the way it thinks about and plans its event experiences. One of our core purposes is to create engaging moments for our community to connect in-person for fellowship, networking, and inspiration. As our Events Coordinator, you’ll be on the ground floor of this change and have the ability to shape the way we serve our community. We are looking for an individual with proven hands-on event experience who also has strategic vision to help continually evolve our programming with each iteration. 

The ideal candidate for this role has exceptional interpersonal aptitude and is comfortable in situations where priorities shift. You will support our event programming from conception to clean up and work across all departments of IDSA to ensure each event, no matter the size, is executed with professionalism, attention to detail, and in accordance to budget. 

The Events Coordinator reports directly to IDSA’s Sr. Manager of Events, Sponsorships & Sales and will frequently interface with our vast community of volunteer members. In addition to providing key support functions, you will be directly responsible for logistical aspects of our annual International Design Conference, Education Symposium, Deep Dive Events, and Board of Directors meetings. These gatherings may range in scale from over 500 attendees to intimate meetings of 10 or less.

Visual Brand Designer

You are a talented, creative, detail-oriented and proven Visual Brand Designer whose portfolio of work shows a rich diversity of well-executed projects. In this role, you will uphold and express IDSA’s brand, mission and programs through the creation of compelling graphic design work for use in print, digital and environmental formats. As the individual responsible for much of our creative output, your influence and impact will be seen by thousands of designers across the globe on a daily basis.

The right person for this position is a highly motivated individual with a deep passion for all forms of design and creative problem solving. You will work with staff across the entire organization, outside partners and IDSA member volunteers in the development and delivery of high-quality, professional visual assets.
