Since 2004, Stephen Wurth has been an ambassador of integrating industrial design and design strategy into the Nestlé Purina Petcare Co. global headquarters in Saint Louis, MO. This has included pioneering and leading design methods and approaches that challenge corporate orthodoxies and accelerate innovation in order to deliver powerful human-centered products, systems, and services that shift the company from transactional products to participatory experiences.
Additionally, he has also had the chance to travel the world to leverage his design influence in some of the most strategic global business units within the Nestlé portfolio (the world’s leading nutrition, health, and wellness company) including Nescafé (Japan, USA), Prepared Foods, Global Petcare (Europe, Latin America) Nestle Nutrition and Nespresso to name a few.
Outside of his work with Nestle, he is heavily involved in the external design & innovation community. He has been a two-term Chair of the IDSA Saint Louis chapter, resulting in dynamic partnerships with other local organizations (United Way, AIGA, AIA) and the activation of unique experiences around the city and community that bring more exposure to design as a strategic driver of innovation and business. He is the current IDSA Midwest District Vice-President, hoping to continue the advancement of IDSA as a relevant and powerful brand within the design, innovation, and business community.
He loves karaoke, has an obsession with fun socks, loathes olives, and wishes he could go back in time to enjoy the musical influence of Lennon, Waters, Jagger, Joplin and Morrison (amongst many others).
