Shannon Hoste is a senior staff fellow of the Human Factors Pre-Market Evaluation Team of the Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health, Office of Device Evaluation (ODE). She reviews human factors data for ODE, Office of In Vitro Diagnostics and Radiological Health and pre-market submissions. Previously, Hoste spent 18 years in the medical device industry as an engineer and a research and development manager. She has worked in and directed project teams in all phases of product developmentāfrom front end research to post-market support. Hoste has a BS in mechanical engineering, MS in cognitive systems engineering and an MS in management.

Shannon Hoste spent almost the first 20 years of her career in research and design, but has had the opportunity to gain a new perspective as a Senior Staff Fellow on the Human Factors Pre-Market Evaluation Team of the Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health. Now, Hoste shares some of her insights into this new perspective, and opens the floor for discussion with attendees.
