Designer, Open Design
From connected home appliances to outdoor gear, Ryan Diener has transformed the mundane into meaningful, beautiful, and intuitive products for a global audience. He finds sparks of inspiration talking to people leading unconventional lives, distilling complexity, and crisscrossing continents to meet with factories delivering uncommon quality. His greatest satisfaction is in seeing products long outlive their expected life and continue to bring joy every day. Ryan finds peace in morning light, fluffy snow, and fresh sawdust.
As an in-house designer, has helped General Electric to envision future product lines, Hydro Flask to establish an award-winning design language, and Cooper Hewitt to make learning about design interactive. Ryan has started his own design consultancy, Open Design, to help progressive brands envision the future. His work has been honored with top-tier international awards (IDEA Gold, iF Gold, Red Dot, Good Design) and credited with numerous design and utility patents.
