Matthew Kroeker, IDSA | Creative Director, Matthew Kroeker Industrial Design
Matthew Kroeker is an independent industrial designer based in Winnipeg, Canada. He is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto, and his work has been exhibited in New York and Milan and is said to be on the vanguard of the new Canadian design movement. He has earned several awards worldwide and has been published in prominent international publications including The New York Times, Interni and Metropolis. In 2008 Matthew was honoured with the distinction of being one of Canada’s ten most innovative designers by AZURE magazine and in 2009 he was acknowledged as Canada’s furniture designer of the year by Western Living magazine and their jury consisting of celebrated creative thinkers, Douglas Coupland, Niels Bendsten and the late Tobias Wong.
Kroeker is focused on creating smart everyday products and furniture that seek to enhance the rituals of our daily routines. He’s had opportunity to experience many facets of industry including the development of rapid transit buses, housewares, and contract furniture. His experimental furniture and product concepts explore a blend of old and unconventional materials that offer a nod to the past while being firmly rooted in the present.
Matthew still operates his independent design studio in addition to acting as Creative Director for Top & Derby Limited; a maker of durable medical equipment including innovative walking canes and home healthcare products.
