Ryan Larcom is a designer trapped in an engineer’s body. He attended university at Rochester Institute of Technology earning his bachelors and masters in mechanical engineering, but “saw the light” in time to minor in industrial design. His time with designers at Continuum and Honda R&D inspired him to reconsider the role of an engineer using his technical skills to bring designers’ dreams to life. His new role as a corporate responsibility leader at Cummins allows him to use design thinking in a new way: empowering engineers to use their technical skills in the community to solve complex and ambiguous problems to affect social change.
