Merrick Kossack is the Manager of Human Factors Engineering at Intuitive Surgical. He has studied and worked in the field of human factors for over 20 years, mostly within the medical device industry. During his career, he has introduced, championed and institutionalized human factors engineering processes and techniques. Additionally, Merrick has co-developed and teaches a course on human factors in medical device development. At Intuitive Surgical, Kossack leads the team responsible for introducing human factors engineering into the organization’s established development processes to ensure the development of a safe and effective system.
