Jeffrey Greger, IDSA | Nonobject
IDSA Silicon Valley Chair: 2012–2013
From sculpture to sustainability to technology to anthropology I design because no other profession could allow me to explore my boundless curiosity. A recent graduate of San Jose State’s industrial design program, I have spent the last 8 months having a blast working at Palo Alto design firm Nonobject. My career thus far has seen me designing living structures to bring more plants to San Jose’s downtown, conducting design research for L’Oreal Paris while studying in Germany, and developing consumer electronic and medical products during my internships. In addition to loving product design, I am passionate about studying new cultures and languages, enjoy tinkering with computers, and have been playing some type of drum for most of my life.
Studying and working in the in Silicon Valley has made it abundantly clear that there is some amazing product design happening here. I have been an IDSA member for 4 years and as Chair for the IDSA Silicon Valley Chapter, I would hope to bring together designers from local consultancies, corporations, universities, and independent practices to foster a true sense community. I want this new chapter to be your conduit to communicate the value of design to local businesses and residents, be inspired by innovative work being done inside and outside our profession, and to foster relationships with others in the Valley and around the world sharing your passion for design. I look forward to getting to know the local membership and working with many of you on chapter programs.
