Sam Cahill graduated with a bachelor’s in fine arts in industrial design from the Cleveland Institute of Art. After graduation, he and a high school friend started a cardboard playhouse toy company. Shortly after, he began picking up freelance design work around Cleveland. In the winter of 2010, Cahill joined several other Clevelanders who shared an interest in furniture design and put together a makeshift design studio clubhouse in Ohio City on the near west side of Cleveland. This eventually became the company 2nd Shift LLC. Today 2nd Shift continues to be a growing evening and weekend entrepreneurial venture for him. During the weekday, he is a full-time shower and faucet designer at Moen Inc.
