Let Us Introduce and Welcome Alicia Dornadic to Our Team!

We have the pleasure of introducing a new voice to the IDSA Silicon Valley team, Alicia Dornadic. She will be lending her unique perspective as a design researcher by writing some of our future posts. If you'd like a taste of her wicked writing skills, Alicia wrote us a great recap of last month's Steve Portigal event. Her blog "Spiked Punch Bowl" is also definitely worth a peek too. 1st Coaster Break of 2013 was a blast!

This month's theme was: Viruses

You brought your best pen, and a mighty thirst!

It started early this year, and the fun was contageous. We sketched, and brainstorming masterpieces on paper-pulp drink coasters. Next time, as before, we'll bring markers, pens, and coaster-canvasses. We'll see you there. *Shots not included.

IDSA Indiana's Summer Architecture Tour

We finished up July with a small but exciting architecture tour in Columbus, Indiana. We met at the visitor's center to watch a short film about the history of the area and then toured the Cleo Rogers Memorial Library designed in 1969 by I.M. Pei. After checking out Eliel Saarinen's First Christian Church right across the street we boarded a bus for a trip around town and got to stop and check out several other buildings. 

These Ain’t Your Kidz Sketching Tools

On July 12th, Chevis Watkinson walked us through the stages of rough thumbnail sketch to presentation sketch rendering. If you missed the webinar or would like to see it again, check out the link below. This webinar is geared to anyone who wants to pick up a few tips and tricks in various software packages and also see how the various packages can work together. Also if you don't have these particular packages don't fret as the work flow can easily be adapted to a variety of software.

The Honors Go To….

This is the first year of the NED Copesetic Honors Awards. Each year we will honor an educator and a practioner from the Northeast District. This years judges were James Read from Mass Art and Michael Kent from Staples. Selected from the nominations submitted they chose the following…
