Save the Date | Seattle 2015

When designers, educators, students, and business leaders come together to exchange information and ideas, exciting things happen. Mark your calendars now and plan to join us in Seattle, Aug. 19-22, 2015 for our 50th Anniversary conference, chaired by Surya Vanka, IDSA, Director of User Experience at Microsoft Corp. The theme is The Future of the Future: The Next 50 Years. The conference will celebrate the achievements of the design community over the last half century and accelerate reinvention of the profession to ensure its relevance in the 21st century.

China (Shenzhen) International Industrial Design Fair

China (Shenzhen) International Industrial Design Fair (SZIDF) is the first Chinese design fair introducing the expert review mechanism. Hosted by Ministry of Industry and information Technology of PRC, and People’s Government of Shenzhen Municipality, organized by Shenzhen Industrial Design Profession Association, endorsed by Icsid, SZIDF is a modern design trade exhibition presenting the latest products, technologies, materials, services for industrial designers, branding manufacturers, retailers and specifiers.

This is the year to enter IDEA and celebrate with IDSA, as IDEA enters its 35th year and IDSA celebrates its 50th anniversary. 

 

2014's Highest Honors and Coming in 2015

IDSA honored 27 Gold IDEA winners in 2014. This year's Best in Show honor was given to Square Stand by Ammunition and Square. DELTAIR - Self Contained Breathing Apparatus was named the People's Choice winner. The Sustainabilty Award was given to the Making of Making Powered by Nike MSI. The Henry Ford chose Pill Pack for the Curator's Choice honor and TouchOfModern selected Silver winner VORTEX as its honoree. Next year IDEA enters its 35th year and opens for entries on 1-5-15.

Make Your Voice Heard

Nominations are now open for IDSA’s Board elections (class of 2015-2017). The Board of Directors is responsibze for directing the affairs of the Society, and specifically, each member is expected to help raise funds, increase membership, support the development of programs and services, including the Design Foundation and build awareness of the value of IDSA to the membership, design community and the public.

Mark Dziersk, FIDSA Interviewed on Milwaukee Public Radio

Since 2012, the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design has hosted a series of public events exploring the subjects the school is all about—things like creativity and design. The speakers are leaders in their fields—whether they’re artists, architects or designers. And it’s from that latter group that this year’s guest emerges. Mark Dziersk is managing director at LUNAR Design in Chicago, where he specializes in both industrial design and brand management.

On October 2, 2014, in a gala celebration at The Henry Ford Museum, Sundberg-Ferar looked back at a remarkable history and toasted to the prospect of an equally remarkable future.

IDSA Student Chapter Started at UPENN's School of Design

IDSA welcomes the new Student Chapter at the University of Pennsylvania's (UPENN) School of Design in Philadelphia, PA. Under the leadership of the Student Chapter Advisor, Peter W. Bressler, FIDSA, the student officers of the chapter have met the requirements for the creation of the chapter. Bressler is a longtime IDSA member and volunteer who has been inducted in IDSA's Academy of Fellows for his tireless support of the Society, the profession and students. The new Student Chapter Officers are Sarah Fadem (President), Jin Ah Lee (Vice President) and Jacob Bennett (Treasurer)

Sept. 6 2014 | Project Osmosis
