After over 50 years working as an Industrial Designer, I am retired. That is, I no longer seek to make a living as a designer and I no longer seek clients and sponsored projects. However, I do continue to design products.
Sean Zhang, IDSA is the founder and creative director of the New York-based design studio Ocrùm, known for creating furniture, lighting, mirrors and decorative accessories that encompass a timeless yet contemporary aesthetic. Recently, Ocrùm launched a new color option for the Orizon mirror: Coral Pink. The piece is unique, says Zhang, in that is "made by a special technique from the glazing process," and will only be made in 50 pieces for a limited edition.

Under the leadership of Stephan Clambaneva, IDSA, Sections Director on IDSA's Board of Directors, the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) is currently working to increase the support provided to the Sections and Section leaders.
Effective August 3, 2020, the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) has renamed the the final four chapters in the Society's West District to be city-based. IDSA-Arizona is now IDSA-Phoenix (IDSA-PHX); IDSA-Northwest is now IDSA-Seattle (IDSA-SEA); IDSA-Oregon is now IDSA-Portland (IDSA-PDX); and IDSA-Rocky Mountain is now IDSA-Denver (IDSA-DEN).
Ralph Caplan, H/IDSA was an inimitable voice in the design world as a writer and educator, and particularly eloquent on design's role in catalyzing social change. "The designer's mission is to make things right," Caplan said in a Design Matters interview in 2010. "There is a difference between making things right and making things nice."
An honorary member of the Industrial Designers Society America (IDSA), Caplan died on June 4 at his home in Manhattan, New York. He was 95.
