Start Me Up

RKS Design, founded by IDSA Fellow Ravi Sawhney 35 years ago, is helping the next generation of designers take a step forward. RKS Design is helping youngsters get hands-on with innovation as part the Start-Up Kids program, launched by Cal Lutheran University School of Management Dean Gerhard Apfelthaler, PhD.

Scott Clear, IDSA, is the chief design and innovation officer at RKS who recently visited a Southern California elementary school and asked students to redesign a travel coffee mug with the features they thought were most important for usability. The young winners got to take home some prizes, and a new appreciation for industrial design!
