An IDSA Member; multiple IDSA International Design Excellence Award (IDEA) winner; and Design Foundation donor will be inducted Oct. 23, 2016 into the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame in High Point, NC. Richard Frinier, IDSA, has spent decades designing award-winning furniture, textiles, lighting and accessories for residential, contract and hospitality environments. He has licensed his exclusive and co-branded designs to lifestyle and legacy brands and manufacturers—representing more than $1 billion in sales worldwide.

“As a designer, I am honored to be included in the company of such visionaries and champions of their respective fields within the home furnishings industry at large," Frinier tells IDSA. "While no individual ever wins an award on their own, I am no exception and have had the great fortune to do what I love for over 30 years and worked with great brands and artisan craftspeople around the world to realize my designs. As a member of IDSA, I am truly privileged to be inducted into the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame's Class of 2016. I love what I do and I am grateful to continue to contribute to the industry through my design work and also to support design students."

He adds, "It's often the case that designers, craftspeople and artisans are behind the scenes and somewhat unsung heroes. I accept this very meaningful recognition in their name.”

Frinier, a former chief creative officer of Brown Jordan, founded the Richard Frinier Design Studio in 2002 with his wife and partner, Catherine. He has earned more than 90 awards including the 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Casual Furnishings Association and a Stars of Design Award from the Pacific Design Center. In 2015, Interior Design magazine named Frinier's Orbit XXL for Dedon as one of the best designs of the decade in the outdoor furniture category. Frinier’s sculptural designs have been specified for some of the world’s most discriminating spaces—including the Vatican; royal palaces; luxurious resorts and spas; and elite private residences.

The American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Foundation, Inc. is an international, industry-wide organization founded to honor those individuals whose outstanding achievements have contributed to the continued growth and development of the US home furnishings industry.
