IDSA Member With Designs on Health Care, Named to Forbes India’s 30 Under 30
“Unfettered by preconception and baggage, these men and women are giving change a real chance in India. Meet the tomorrow people.”—Forbes India.
She’s only 29, yet already being recognized for her work on making health care affordable in her native India.
Neeti Kailas, IDSA, co-founder and director of Sohum Innovation Lab, has been named by Forbes India magazine to its 30 Under 30 List for 2015 for affordable health care projects. She is also the receipient of the Rolex Award for Enterprise in 2014 for her work in screening newborns for hearing loss.
“Problem-solving for me is exciting,” Kailas tells Forbes India. “What we should be designing—rather than how we should be designing it— is a bigger concern for me. It is important to ask ‘Why are we doing it? Is it profitable for the business? Is it coming from a social standpoint?’”
Kailas also is a design strategist at Nestle Purina PetCare. She holds a master’s degree in industrial design from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA, where she belonged to the college’s partnership with INSEAD: The Business School for the World.
Catch Kailas as a speaker at IDSA’s 2015 Midwest District Design Conference in May in St. Louis.
