GE Appliances Sponsors #CDDC16 Industrial "Strength" Design
"The theme Industrial 'Strength' Design is spot on for highlighting the importance that designers play in today's global market." -IDSA Fellow Lou Lenzi, director of industrial design operations, GE Appliances
GE Appliances is sponsoring IDSA's Central District Design Conference (#CDDC16) on April 1–2 in Pittsburgh. Lou Lenzi, FIDSA, says the global appliance manufacturer hopes to promote dialogue around design's contribution to the changing business, environmental and societal landscape. "GE Appliances loves the opportunity to engage with students and promote our unique and robust design internship program."
GE Appliances is headquartered in Louisville, KY and employs about 12,000 employees worldwide with Charles “Chip” Blankenship as president and CEO. Appliance Park is a 900-acre facility that houses industrial design operations; manufacturing operations; technology and engineering center; executive offices; and the largest distribution warehouse in the company’s network.
In 2014, GE Appliances partnered with Local Motors and the University of Louisville to launch FirstBuild, a global co-creation community and physical, state-of-the-art microfactory supported by an online forum that harnesses the global brainpower of the maker movement.
