The chair of the IDSA's 50th Anniversary International Conference is featured in a new article in the June-July issue of Gray, the design magazine for the Pacific Northwest. Surya Vanka, IDSA, is former director of user experience at Microsoft. He also has called Seattle home for 15 years. Vanka tells Gray:

"Chairing the IDSA Conference is a labor of love. I'm convinced there is an urgent need to bring together the best design minds from around the world to learn from one another and define their sense of purpose."

"There is a lovely African saying that captures the spirit of this Conference: 'If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.'"

"Seattle is now the cauldron where arts, architecture, creativity, music, digital worlds, biotechnology, culture, multiculturalism, entrepreneurial energy and citizen engagement are coming together."
