Making Designs a Reality

Calling All Fabricators, Makers, Inventors and Tinkerers!

Feb 25 2015 - 1:05pm

Are you a professional who makes designs a reality? Or do you put together machines or prototypes in your spare time?

New York City-based Left/Right TV is searching for companies or groups of friends who fabricate and design functional, physical products—for work or for fun—to answer a nationwide casting call for a possible reality television show pilot. The production company is looking for inventors and makers who tackle new projects weekly, and troubleshoot challenges along the way.

“We want people who practice their passion whether it’s souping up a scooter in their backyards, building intricate Rube Goldberg machines or designing cutting-edge robots at work,” says Olivia Snyder-Spak, Left/Right casting producer. “Whether you’re a master woodworker, machinist or jack-of-all-trades designer, then we want to hear from you!”

To be considered please email with your name; city and state; e-mail address and phone number; job and field; what you do in your free time; your fellow fabricator friends or co-workers’ specialties and personalities; the projects you and your group take on; and a few, recent pictures of yourself and your crew.

Initial tryouts will NOT be held in person. Rather, Snyder-Spak says the production company will be communicating with applicants first via email, phone or video chat until about March 6, then may schedule in-person casting.

Left/Right has produced documentaries for PBS, Showtime, Discovery, A&E, NatGeo, Planet Green and History. It’s produced reality shows for Showtime, VH1, AMC, HGTV and Bravo.
