Plastics News Touts IDSA @ Record-Breaking NPE 2015

IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO GO GLOBAL IN ORLANDO

Mar 23 2015 - 12:05pm

Starting March 23, 2015 through Friday, March 27, visit IDSA Executive Director Daniel Martinage, CAEDirector of Membership Allan Gordon and Senior Manager of Sponsorship and Sales Katrina Kona at the IDSA booth on NPE 2015’s Association Row.

Also, late registration is still open to attend IDSA’s South District Design Conference (SDDC) March 26-27, co-located with NPE 2015 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. “It’s the designers that make sure plastics products look good and keep form following function,” reports the latest issue of Plastics News. “For the first time, IDSA is bringing its southern region design conference to NPE 2015.”

“Home Cooking: Designing, Manufacturing and Sourcing in the USA” will offer hundreds of design professionals, students, educators and businesses a chance for firsthand discussions on how design is key in the creation of end-user products in the plastics industry and its vertical markets.

To help bridge the engineering-design gap, the Society of Plastics Industry and IDSA are teaming up with plastics industry veteran Bob Grace, IDSA, for two, free, panel discussions on March 26:

  • “Bridging the Communication Gap: How to ‘Talk Designer,’” will bring together engineers, designers—and even some designers who are also engineers—to look at how better communication can eliminate major issues in the development, manufacture and launch of new products.
  • “Designing the Future: How Materials Can Change the World,” moderated by consultant and plastics industry veteran Gaylon White, H/IDSA, will look at how materials development and selection impacts the environment and how the market push for sustainable and green products is changing the way forward for product engineering and design.

All SDDC registrants will receive complimentary passes to the NPE 2015 exhibit floor in the South Hall of the convention center, to check out the IDSA Design Center, with more than a dozen participants including Eastman Chemical Co. and Konica Minolta Sensing Americas. The Design Center will feature booths by design firms, processors, software developers and other companies providing design services to the plastics industry.

NPE 2015 is being touted as a record-breaking exposition featuring more than 600 companies from 37 countries joining the exhibit floor.
