IDSA St. Louis Teams Up with St. Louis Science Center for Student Design Competition

The 5th annual IDSA-STL Student Design Competition is set from 9:30am to 5:30pm on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015 at South Boeing Hall at the Saint Louis Science Center (SLSC). This year's challenge: create an engaging design solution for an experience that could take place at the SCLC's Science Corner. Six teams will compete from Southerin Illinois University-Carbondale; Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville; and University of Kansas.

"We have a super lineup," says Chair Tony Schmidt of the IDSA St. Louis Chapter. "There will be beyond phenomenal competition presentations and a special keynote from Bert Vescolani, CEO & president of SLSC.” On the jury: Bryce Rutter, PhD, IDSA, founder/CEO, Metaphase Design Group; Kerry Stevison, manager of STEAM Content, Community Science Division, SLSC; Jim Wible, director of Attraction Development, PGAV Destinations; Corey Feit, owner/president, Objex Design; Brooks Goedeker, Forest Park Neighborhood Development; Kelly Kinter, Sitelines, Inc., Forest Park Southeast neighborhood; and Marc Mingaposa, architect/resident, Forest Park Southeast.

Schmidt says this also will be a chance for design students to show their work to some of the top design firms in St. Louis.

There is no cost to attend the competition and parking is free with validation. While you are there, tour the SLSC, where the mission statement is "Igniting and sustaining lifelong science and technology learning."
