WDDC Shines in the Golden State
IDSA’s West Design District Conference runs April 10-11 in San Jose. The schedule is packed with opportunities for design professionals and students to learn how to build a tribe and sharpen the craft.
Back at the San Jose Marriott, 301 S. Market St., conference registration opens Friday at 12:30 followed by opening remarks at 1:15pm. And we’re not wasting any time. The first session, “What Tribe are you Designing For?” kicks off at 1:30pm, moderated by Western Design District Vice President Jason Belaire, features Kenji Haroutunian of Kenji Consultants and Ben McCosh of Chrome Industries.
"You asked, we delivered!," says Belaire. "This conference is addressing many relevant and skill based items to help you sharpen your CRAFT! Attending WDDC will prove advantageous as you will walk away with knowledge and skill that will directly translate into your work."
Afternoon breakout panel discussions include a student seminar on “Finding your Way in the Tribe” with moderator Sylvia Bargellini and a round table discussion with TRIBE professionals. That’s followed by professional seminars on Customer Intelligent Design and Measurable ROI with Design.
Wake up Saturday, April 11 with coffee and networking. A morning panel focuses on Sustainable Measures to Creating a Long Lasting Career.
Afternoon activities include a panel on Failing Fast, Learning Fast moderated by 2015 IDSA International Conference Chair Surya Vanka and Tradition and Disruption, moderated by Professor Jose Rivera-Chang of Cal State.
Check out some of the brightest young minds in design in the Student Merit Awards sponsored by Dassault Systemes Solidworks, set for 10:45am and 3:15pm.
The conference wraps up with closing remarks by Belaire and Vanka at 5pm, and a closing party at 7pm.
