ID Students Team Up with Geologists at Appalachian State University
Students in industrial design, excercise science and geology are teaming up to find out what lies beneath.
A research project based at Appalachian State University in North Carolina is taking a closer look at blastoids, an ancient marine group, as part of a National Science Foundation-funded study.
Industrial design students are using their graphic imaging and 3D printing skills to create replicas of the blastoids. The resulting models and scanned images are combined with graphic design and animation software to develop computer simulations. This summer, the students will travel to Spain to unveil their results.
Appalachian State University's IDSA Student Chapter is advised by Professor Don Corey.
