IDSA Student Members Earn Scholarships to Attend WDDC
Four IDSA student members each have been awarded a Design Leadership Scholarship to attend IDSA’s West Design District Conference from April 10 to 11 in San Jose, CA.
“The Silicon Valley Chapter wanted to give an opportunity to design leaders in the West Design District, the ability to grow design and leadership skills by attending the conference. This is an opportunity we are very excited to be able to offer to four highly deserving students," says Sylvia Bargellini, IDSA Silicon Valley Chapter treasurer/secretary, who will speak at the conference.
The student recipients are: Liz Zarro, University of Oregon; Momo Hayashi and Ethan Miller, Metropolitan State University of Denver; and Jon Paul White, Arizona State University.
Zarro is set to graduate in June. She says she’s “incredibly honored to win” and that without the scholarship, she would not have been able to attend the conference. "I’m excited to learn about trends and connections to the maker movement, and to meet other students and designers who are part of the IDSA community," she explains.
Momo says, “It feels great to be rewarded for giving back to the community which I sincerely enjoy” and wants to meet speaker Amina Horozic, IDSA, lead industrial designer at fuseproject.
Miller hopes to connect with professional and student IDSA members to come up with ideas for university events, while White plans on networking with industrial designers.
