Statement of Candidacy (At-Large Director, Awards - Board of Directors | 2023-2024 term)
With 20 years of experience in design practice, I have been passionate about challenging people and organizations to think differently. I firmly believe design is meaning-making, not just for the user but also for the socio-economic impact on Society and the Planet. Great design is meaningful, beautiful, and sustainable.
I am grateful to accrue versatile design experience as a consultant, sustainability-by-design entrepreneur, tutor, and jury member that empowers me to build an inclusive future, allowing all to thrive socially, ecologically, and economically. I am committed to giving back and welcomed the opportunity to co-chair the Sustainability Section at IDSA two years back. The Section has been instrumental in the strategic planning of the IDSA Sustainability Deep Dives. For the very first SDD in 2020, amid the pandemic, we strategized and implemented a design challenge that achieved many firsts: encouraging remote collaboration, implementing diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, and enabling global participation.
It would be an honor to serve as the IDSA At-Large Director - Awards and work in close partnership with the IDSA Board to advise on, improve, develop, and implement robust planning and execution of best-in-class annual awards programs: International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA), Student Merit Awards (SMA), and IDSA Awards.
