Jim Wicks is responsible for leading a global creative staff committed to delivering unique and intuitive industrial design and user experiences for mobile products.
He drives user-centered design practices, high quality design execution and cross-functional design management through the conceptualization and creation of cutting-edge, “must-have” Motorola mobile devices such as the widely acclaimed family of DROID™ by Motorola smartphones and others such as the Ming series popular in China.
Credited with more than 50 design and utility patents, Wicks also has received multiple global design awards. He has spoken at a number of industry events and been featured frequently in print and broadcast media including CNBC, The New York Times, BusinessWeek and Newsweek.
Wicks joined Motorola in 2001. Prior to his current position, he served as Motorola’s director of user-interface design and human factors. He previously served in design leadership roles with Sapient Corp., where he was director of strategy for the San Francisco office, and Sony Corp.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial design from the University of Illinois and a graduate degree in design from Nihon University in Japan.
