Isabelle Chumfong, MD, MEng
Clinical Advisor and Product Designer
Isabelle Chumfong, MD, MEng, is a University of California, San Francisco general surgery resident whose research is focused on innovative medical device design. Since receiving her master’s degree in chemical engineering from Yale University, she has taken part in design projects in a diverse range of fields—from urban planning to consumer products to defense applications. She earned her MD at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Dr. Chumfong completed a medical fellowship at global innovation and design firm IDEO. She currently serves as clinical advisor and product designer for SmartDerm, Inc., a pressure-ulcer prevention system.
