Mark Evans is a reader in industrial design and leader of the Design Practice Research Group at Loughborough University in the UK. Before joining academia, he was an in-house and consultant industrial designer with clients such as British Airways, Honda, Unilever and British Gas. A Ph.D. supervisor and examiner for 20 candidates, his current research is supported by doctoral researchers exploring sustainable design, design thinking, design for low income economies, collaborative medical design, the future of UK industrial design and consumer-driven additive manufacturing. His overseas appointments include International Scholar at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and visiting professor at Rhode Island School of Design. With his research, he has collaborated with organizations such as the Department of Trade and Industry, Industrial Designers Society of America, Arts and Humanities Research Council, Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, Hewlett Packard and Royal Academy of Engineering. These research collaborations have resulted in over 100 publications.
