David Cowan, IDSA, is a research scientist and instructor in Georgia Tech’s School of Industrial Design. He has 40 years of experience in the healthcare industry—facilities and product design, technology planning and management. As a research scientist, he works at the intersection of facilities, technology, culture and processes to develop solutions through modeling and optimization.
Cowan is an instructor for graduate and junior industrial design studios—focusing on health and wellness projects. He, along with faculty from architecture, biomedical engineering, nursing and medicine—developed and lead an interdisciplinary course, Design of Healthcare of the Future, attempting to solve some of the most difficult problems through trans-disciplinary human centered design.
