Medical Design Deep Dive 2020 Session Description
Rethinking Design for Healthcare at Lilly Design Labs
What is one of the design discipline's biggest opportunities in the healthcare space? It's expanding the expectations for innovative design by broadening our scope of influence throughout organizations. We implicitly know that safety and comfort are imperative, and that rigorous procedures can often slow innovation. However, we also know that innovative product design can not only enhance ease of use, but also increase the rate of product adoption. Moreover, good product design should also deliver a positive psychological impact.
We have the opportunity to successfully apply design thinking within the constraints of a traditional design space and to nurture design skills and muscle into all aspects of the work environment. As a result, we can provide modern, state-of-the-art products that produce healthy outcomes for our customers.
