For position of Secretary/Treasurer
Statement of Candidacy
Now that I am working in a business (my own business) that allows me to work only when I want to, I can devote more time to giving back to my profession, industrial design and to my community. To that end, I was on last year’s IDSA annual International Conference planning committee; participate in the University of Houston’s ID program when asked; and volunteer my time for other IDSA opportunities, such as secretary/treasurer of the Society. I am also on the Board of Directors of my local church and have served on its Office Building Fund committee, developing creative ideas to raise money for the project. Our team raised $995,000 in just over a one year period; not bad for a membership of around 2000 people. As stated in my bio, I have managed budgets of over $1 million annually for both HP and Compaq Computers.
If elected, I promise you I will treat your IDSA funds as if they were my very own. Spend only if you can afford to and if it brings the best value for the dollar, and/or it is an urgent need. I would solicit suggestions on how to prioritize our spending as well. I hope that you will honor me with the opportunity to serve you once again in the new capacity of IDSA secretary/treasurer.
