Who we are:
Spitfire is a design studio headquartered in a former pasta shop in Brooklyn. It was founded by Isis Shiffer, an award-winning industrial designer with a background in fine art and bicycle frame-building. Our diverse team brings a broad range of perspectives to every project we work on, united by a desire to leave the world more beautiful than we found it.
What we do:
While we are primarily an industrial design studio, we see design as a tool to solve problems, in whatever format works best. We’ve styled buses, invented cookware, designed Kickstarter campaigns, created packaging suites, started and refreshed brands, built websites and apps, and prepared factory CADs. Working with Spitfire is like adding a highly capable design department to your company for as long as you need it. We work closely with our clients from ideation to launch day, overseeing every aspect of design and making sure that each element comes together efficiently, elegantly and on time.
Why work with us?
We are small, focused and picky. Our clients get full attention and commitment from day one. We put the time and effort into truly understanding your brand, goals and path forward, and prioritize great communication. We only take on projects we really believe in, and approach every design challenge with exactitude and humanism.

The first therapy lamps built to beautify the home as well as provide 10,000 lumen light therapy, our line of sunlamps for Circadian Optics brings a variety of aesthetic options to fit any environment. They have been featured in Architectural Digest, the Wall Street Journal, Shark Tank and more.
Our braces for iUrbo are designed to help with the all-too-common repetitive strain injuries epidemic among desk workers. Using an updated palette and subtle texturing, we transformed a device that frequently looks medical or sporty into a business-casual accessory.
Our award winning tire designs combine timeless aesthetic and excellent performance. Inspired by the classic racetrack that gives it its name, Spa is a directional, asymmetric tread design for ultra-high performance in all conditions.
Our folding, sustainable bike helmet is designed for bike share riders, commuters and anyone who doesn’t want to carry a helmet around with them when off the bike. It won the international James Dyson award in 2016 and has been featured by the New York Times, the BBC and more.
These brightly styled scooters combine excellent engineering and unique visuals for all ages. Scooters have evolved from a novelty to a key component of the micromobility revolution in recent years, and we partnered with Gotrax to refresh their classic designs.
We partnered with artisans in Thailand to create a sustainably sourced and produced cheese board for the international market. Our client, Nest and Nook, is based in Australia and donates a percentage of their profits to microloans for artisan small businesses around the world.
