Since receiving his degree from the Art Institute of Design in Chicago\, he has collaborated with diverse clients such as Microsoft\, Nike\, HP\, Disney\, Samsung\, Nissan and Sony\, among many others. His passion for emerging technologies has him constantly looking towards the future while his keen awareness of user needs keeps him focused on the present. \nCaitlin Pulleyblank \nAfter fifteen years heading business strategy\, talent and operations for start-ups\, design consultancies\, and media companies\, Caitlin Pulleyblank has founded our colony. Since 2006\, Caitlin has provided retained search\, organizational design and innovation services for a broad range of innovative companies in the States\, Europe and Asia\, including: Fuseproject\, Frog Design\, Disney\, SAP\, Sapient Corporation\, Idealbite.com\, Newwest.net\, GSI Commerce and MDC-Partners’ portfolio of marketing and design companies – industry leaders such as Hello Design\, Crispin Porter + Bogusky\, Redscout and 72andSunny. \nOpen Colony works across disciplines (design\, user experience\, interactive design\, technology\, marketing\, executive management\, business development\, client services\, strategy\, operations\, human resources\, content\, and research) through a progressive\, transparent\, integrated model. Before joining Fitbit\, Jonah was VP of Industrial Design at HTC\, where he was responsible for roadmap\, future vision\, and branding programs across smartphones\, VR\, imaging\, and wearables. Jonah was also President and Partner at One & Co\, a San Francisco design agency acquired by HTC in 2008. At One & Co Jonah created successful\, award-winning products for clients like Nike\, Microsoft\, Sony\, Dell\, and Burton Snowboards. \nJonah has a B.A. in Philosophy from U.C. Berkeley\, and a B.F.A. in Industrial Design from California College of the Arts \nDonald Burlock \nDonald is a consummate problem-solver\, focused on producing enterprise and consumer products and services that build advocacy for the brand while offering consumers sensorial\, memorable experiences. His recent focus is organizing adaptive\, interdisciplinary teams that drive cross-functional projects forward into the marketplace. Donald is passionate about evolving a brand’s identity through a product’s offering and increasing consumer engagement through the creation of intuitively designed physical and digital touch points.

Learn how to cleanly stack up an exploded view\, realistically place a product in a backplate\, and create dramatic staging for professional product visuals. This event will include live demonstrations and the opportunity to ask questions to get the help you need. Feel free to bring your own machine to follow along. \nEddie Licitra \nEddie Licitra is a Senior Industrial Designer with McKinsey & Company’s LUNAR Design group in San Francisco. As part of LUNAR\, he works with multi-disciplinary teams of consultants\, researchers\, designers\, and engineers to help companies create what’s next. In his free time\, Eddie can be found woodworking in his garage\, riding his cyclocross bike\, or mastering the delicious art of the breakfast taco. \nPreviously\, Eddie’s worked on the design teams at Native Design\, Ammunition Group\, Coca-Cola\, and Speck Products. He’s worked across industries and clients\, ranging from creating new product categories for major power tool companies\, doing research within the automotive industry\, designing high-end audio products\, to growing new health and wellness technologies with small start-ups. Eddie graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design magna cum laude. \nElliot Ortiz \nElliot Ortiz is the Creative Lead at Whipsaw\, a world class industrial design and product development firm in the Bay Area. Over the last decade\, Elliot has received numerous design accolades for a wide range of work on everything from E-vehicle startups and consumer electronics\, to Steph Curry endorsed water pitchers and children’s lunchboxes. As a project leader Elliot believes in to staying close to the action\, reinforcing ID fundamentals and visual communication techniques. He is passionate about digital sculpting and visualization\, and has been integrating Keyshot into his workflow since it first launched in 2010 as a tool to promote good ideas and sell winning design. \nDayne Tanner \nDayne Tanner is Enlisted Design’s Director of Industrial Design. Beyond being a practicing industrial designer\, he guides the ID team in delivering powerful and meaningful solutions that bring our clients’ products to life. Before Enlisted\, Dayne honed his craft at design consultancies Bould\, Pip Tompkin\, and Continuum. He has created innovative products and experiences for large companies such as Arlo\, Roku\, Polycom\, Vizio\, and Netgear\, as well as start-ups such as Light\, Orro\, and Pi. Whether conceptualizing a new product\, editing footage for a home video\, or building furniture in his garage\, he is happiest when creating. Dayne graduated from Brigham Young University with a BFA in Industrial Design.

This key technology that is already disrupting some industries\, however\, and it is poised to change every industry in the near future. It and a few other technologies\, like AI and conversational interface will reshape our relationship with service\, objects\, and organizations. What does this mean for the physical products we design? How will it impact our peers\, customers\, users\, and industry? Please join us in the conversation with some of the leaders in this field as we discuss what the future looks like for us designers with respect to blockchain. \nSpeakers Include: \nNathan Shedrof – Executive Director a@ Seed Vault LTD. He is a pioneer in Experience Design\, Interaction Design and Information Design\, is a serial entrepreneur\, and researches\, speaks and teaches internationally about meaning\, strategic innovation\, business value\, and science fiction interfaces. His many books include: Experience Design 1.1\, Making Meaning\, Design is the Problem\, Design Strategy in Action\, Make It So\,and the new Blindspot. He holds an MBA in Sustainable Management from Presidio Graduate School and a BS in Industrial Design from Art Center College of Design. Vivid’s hallmark was helping to establish and validate the field of information architecture\, by training an entire generation of designers in the newly emerging Web industry. \nSaya Iwasaki – Designing to Empower As a founder\, educator and designer with history at Ideo U\, Stanford University Graduate School of Education\, EdSurge and One Workplace\, I come with experience managing an innovative school in Myanmar\, scaling business growth in emerging economies and empowering blockchain startups in Silicon Valley. I’m passionate about empowering systems that have the potential to democratize access to success and increase equity. Currently working in usability and education in the blockchain space. \nKristian Simsarian – Design\, Innovation and AI Expert\, Speaker and Educator Kristian is an award-winning designer\, educator and leader. He is an expert in technology\, education\, and innovation. As an executive leader at the design innovation firm IDEO\, he led the creation of the digital design practice which helped fuel the growth of IDEO into the largest design-led innovation consultancy in the world. As a consultant\, Kristian has worked with just about every type of organization\, from Microsoft to the NIH\, to P&G to The Institute for the Future to Greater Good Science Center along with several universities and startups. From this work\, he holds several patents and design awards and his work has appeared in NYT\, Business Week\, Huffington Post\, along with several best-selling business books on innovation. Recently he founded a new consultancy\, Collective Creativity\, dedicated to using technology and design-driven innovation to help amplify the effects of purpose-driven organizations who are working on pressing complex social challenges. He does this through systems-level transformation\, regenerative mindset and by increasing the overlap of wisdom and technological innovation. Ultimately\, he is committed to augmenting our collective human and social capacities to increase global creativity\, justice\, and democracy. He lives with his wife and daughter in a finally fixed up Victorian in San Francisco. \nBen Bartlett – Berkeley City Council and Candidate to CA Assembly Ben grew up in Berkeley in a culture of community service. Ben’s mom was an original Black Panther and his dad dedicated his life to organizing people in North Richmond\, Berkeley and Oakland. “Five generations ago\, my family came to the East Bay in search of freedom and opportunity\,” Ben says. “And we found them – through struggle. Today\, that struggle continues.” Standing on their shoulders\, Ben has built a career as an environmental lawyer uniting industry and government to address climate change\, alleviate poverty with green jobs and expand opportunity for everyone. He uses the principles of environmental justice to drive investment into our poorest communities to create health and wealth. Ben is currently a founding principal at Re: Public Good\, a city and climate change consulting firm. Today\, Ben serves on the Berkeley City Council where he was elected in 2016 to represent the people of South Berkeley. Working with Mayor Jesse Arreguín and his colleagues on the council.
