About

The Design School at Arizona State University’s Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts offers a forward-thinking education in industrial design. Our accredited programs prepare students to design products, systems, services, and experiences that are innovative, ecologically sound and socially beneficial.

Students in our bachelor’s degree program develop a strong foundation of design skills through lower-division studio and lecture courses. Upper-division studio courses allow students to collaborate and address design challenges, professional projects and case scenarios. To balance the classroom theory, students also follow an internship program to add periods of practical, hands-on experience before graduation.

The Master of Industrial Design is a studio-based program that prepares students for the future of industrial design practice. The curriculum guides students through transdisciplinary projects that harness creativity, resolve problems and co-create solutions that are user-centered and responsible for the environment.

Experienced designers can pursue advanced studies through our Master of Science in Design program with a concentration in industrial design. This degree prepares students for academic or research-focused careers by conducting scholarly work that explores the complex practice of industrial design.

Sun Devils are part of a community that is measured not by whom it excludes, but by whom it includes and how they succeed. Our industrial design programs are for learners from all backgrounds and include options to customize your education. Our graduates thrive as design leaders in a variety of settings including Fortune 500companies, academia and startups.
