Rem Koolhaas and OMA's new Seattle Central Library seating needed to be durable and visibly unique without detracting from the architecture. The solution was a continuous flow of foam cushions with broad arms on which books and notebooks could be laid. The system is based around two cushions that can be oriented in numerous configurations upon various platform grids. Other components, such as light boxes and table surfaces, can also be laid into the grid.
