The nonprofit One Laptop per Child (OLPC), formed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology by Nicholas Negroponte, is dedicated to creating a revolutionary child-sized laptop that will bring learning, information and communication to children where education is needed most: in developing countries. Governments purchase the laptop directly, and distribute them to their schools. The OLPC laptop was designed to be robust, tactile, and expressive at the same time.
