The first few years out of design school can be the most challenging in an industrial designer’s career. Many young designers feel like they are in "limbo,” no longer a student but not feeling quite like a professional. Sound familiar?
This year at the South District Design Conference (SDDC) we will be offering a Young Professionals Career Clinic. This clinic, running concurrent to the student portfolio review, will be made up of 30-minute sessions. Each will be a one-on-one mentoring session with a practicing industrial designer. You will have time to have your portfolio reviewed; talk about individual goals; and receive honest, personalized feedback, advice and guidance on skills building, suggestions for potential industries or jobs, networking, etc.
The sessions are limited and will require advance sign-up. Participants must meet the following criteria:
- Are a current IDSA member (note there is discounted membership available for young professionals).
- Are registered for the SDDC.
- Have earned an undergraduate or graduate degree in industrial design within the past 5 years.
- Come prepared with your updated professional portfolio and resume.
