Registration is open for the IDSA Midwest District Design Conference 2018: DESIGN > PRODUCT, set for April 6–7 at the University of Illinois-Chicago (UIC).
One of the central attributes that granted the Bauhaus historical and lasting reverence was its ability to react to the changing social context. With emerging technology and a large cultural shift seen by the world at the time, it offered a new framework of methodology and application of creative activities that today—we deem as “design.” Now we are in the midst of another large shift, possibly at a scale more impactful to a greater number of people and a wider spectrum of affairs.
Design as we know is not only a means to offer product solutions to user needs, but a tool to inquire and challenge conventional wisdom for a higher understanding, a gateway to entrepreneurialism and a methodology to engage and activate social change.
At DESIGN > PRODUCT, we will expose and explore the expanding field of design as it stands today. Topics include:
- Design for Inquiry
- Design for Independence
- Design for Social Impact
- Design for a Connected Future
