RSA Inclusive Design Resource
The Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce (RSA) is collaborating with the Design Council to develop online inclusive design resources for education and business and design professionals. “Inclusive design” is the term used in the UK to describe design for all ages and abilities. The RSA Inclusive Design Resource is designed as an example of inclusive design and contains information on strategies, tools and methods, together with useful case studies.
Unlimited by Design is an online version of the traveling exhibit originally developed by the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum/ Smithsonian Institution in 1999. The exhibit was also shown at the Design Exchange in Toronto, Ontario in 2000.
Profiles of Designers with Disabilities
“Building a World Fit for People: Designers with Disabilities at Work, describes the career development of 21 designers with disabilities from around the world. The book promotes the design professions as a viable career opportunity for people with disabilities. The book was written and published by Adaptive Environments and funded by NEC Foundation of America. Based on the initial research funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, the book highlights the major influences that shaped each person’s professional choices. For more details on the book and the authors, see the Press Kit at www.AdaptiveEnvironments.org/accessdesign. You can order it for $15.00 or read an accessible version online for free.”
