1997 Pratt
Institute
At its annual conference in Washington, DC, IDSA honored Pratt Institute,
"for the school's long and history-making role in shaping the profession
of industrial design. Since 1938, the ID program at Pratt has produced
thousands of graduates who have gone on to make the world a better place
to live. A model for design programs across the country, Pratt has led
the way in educating industrial designers, from the formation of the Experimental
Design laboratory to the establishment of courses in Universal Design
and coordination of the first-ever national conference on the topic.
Pratt has a heritage
of encouraging students to search for new paradigms in the profession.
Throughout its history, it has sought a solid foundation for the profession
and higher goals for that profession's future."
