1995 Tom Bidwell of Crown Equipment
At its annual conference in Santa Fe, New Mexico, IDSA honored Mr. Bidwell, Executive Vice President. David Smith, IDSA, co-founder of Richardson/Smith, long time consultant to Crown, said, "This is about commitment to people who own, service and operate industrial products, It's about how an idea can serve the customer. It's about shaking up an industry, about taking risks, about setting examples and influencing many other industries outside materials handling. It's about putting design up in front of the process. It's about persistence, commitment and determination to do better."

Dave described Tom Bidwell further-- "His great sensitivity and commitment to design as a powerful tool is unique. Yes, he is passionate about design, it comes from the heart. Better Yet, he is uncompromising about product quality and usability and in reality he's the customer's strongest advocate."

Over the years, designs by Richardson /Smith for and with Crown have received many design awards, including the Stock Picker Platform (1987), the TSP Turret Stockpicker (1989), and the FC 4-wheel sit-down truck (1992).
